Our highly talented team design and manufacture technology platforms for NATO navies and commercial clients throughout the world and provide acoustic 3D Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) data solutions and imaging in the offshore energy sector with increasing focus on offshore renewables.

Kraken Robotics is seeking an Accountant to join our Finance Team. The Accountant will report to the Financial Controller, while working closely with the whole finance department on the scope of duties. The successful candidate is someone who can adapt quickly to business needs, is able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment, and is interested in contributing to the direction of future Kraken finance department. This position will be based out of either our Mount Pearl, NL, or Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada office location.

Qualifications

Minimum 1-2 years' experience in accounting and finance, preferably in a publicly traded multi-currency company

Bachelor of commerce, finance, business or equivalent

Understanding of IFRS in relation to accounting and inventory

Experience with cost accounting or budgeting is considered an asset

Experience and proficient with Excel and ERP systems required.

Responsibilities

Assist in daily general accounting functions

Assist in completion of month end, quarter end, and year end activity for local and international subsidiaries including determining required month-end adjustments, and prepare intercompany billings

Assist in the consolidation process for quarterly and year end activities including preparation of schedules and working papers

Review and prepare general ledger account reconciliations, accruals, supporting schedules and variance analysis

Assist with accounting processes and implementing internal accounting controls to ensure accuracy and timeliness in both general and inventory accounting functions

Interact with clients, vendors, and employees to execute requests within the accounting area

Assist in the quarterly and year-end audit and tax filings with the team and the auditors

Assist with internal and external audits

Prepare project cost reports

Contribute to process improvements for financial reporting/planning and cash management and contribute to integration and upgrade of our financial systems.
