It's really a partnership between the public, the Police, and the Media, each playing a fundamental role that makes our program extremely successful. The Board of Directors for WCS is comprised of community members and is collectively accountable to the organization along with community, funders, and stakeholders. The Board is accountable for WCS's performance relating to its mission and objectives, and for the effective stewardship of finances, capital, and human resources.
Responsibilities:
The board directors' controls and inspires the organization through the careful establishment of broad written policies reflecting the board's values and perspectives.
To serve in WCS's best interests, bringing informed decision-making and perspective by:
- Preparing for and participating in monthly Board meetings;
- Listening to the views of others, advocating one's own views, identifying common perspectives, and being open to compromise;
- Supporting governance decisions once they are made;
- Abide by WCS's Bylaws, Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest, Confidentiality, and other policies that may apply to the Board;
- Assist with fundraising in support of WCS.
Skills Required: WCS is seeking candidates possessing personal or professional expertise in sectors of business, sponsorship & fundraising, marketing & communications, board governance, and advocacy
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+ Time Commitment: Evening , Weekend , Remote Volunteering , Flexible Hours
Time Commitment: Monthly, evening, weekend
Members of WCS's Board of Directors attend ten regular meetings per year (September to June), each lasting approximately two hours, and our Annual General Meeting held in December. Support at special events and fundraising activities.
