Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role based in Saskatoon, SK, with the flexibility for some remote work. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will lead the structural design and analysis of complex projects, provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, and play a key role in business development and client relations. Responsibilities
Lead the structural design and analysis of large-scale and technically challenging projects, from conceptual design through construction administration.
Provide technical expertise and guidance on structural engineering principles, methods, and best practices, mentoring junior engineers and fostering their professional development.
Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop integrated and coordinated design solutions that meet project objectives and constraints.
Conduct advanced structural analysis and simulations using state-of-the-art software tools, reviewing and validating results to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports, ensuring accuracy, quality, and completeness.
Participate in client meetings, presentations, and proposal development activities, representing the firm with professionalism and credibility.
Lead business development efforts, identify opportunities for growth, and cultivate client relationships through exceptional service and value-added solutions.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes, contributing to the continuous improvement of technical capabilities and organizational processes.
Provide construction support and expertise during project implementation, addressing field issues, conducting site inspections, and ensuring adherence to design intent.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering; Master's degree is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering consulting or related field.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required; Structural Engineer (S.E.) license is preferred.
Expertise in structural analysis and design software such as MathCAD, AutoCAD and 3D structural analysis modeling software, and Revit.
Proven track record of successfully leading and managing multidisciplinary project teams, delivering projects on time and within budget.
Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience in client management, business development, and proposal writing.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Strategic thinker with the ability to innovate, problem-solve, and drive continuous improvement.
Commitment to mentoring and developing junior staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work culture.
Key Knowledge & Experience
A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural design and engineering are required. Experience working in the consulting field, especially in the mining sector and, more specifically, potash mining, would be considered an asset. Site experience and heavy industrial exposure would also be an asset for this position.
Salary Range
$137,000 - $175,000
