About the Role:
We’re a tight-knit group of creative, technical and strategic specialists who research, hypothesize, ideate, design, code, write, film, edit, execute, boost, and track and measure every piece of award-winning advertising, communications and brand collateral for the world’s greatest small-group adventure travel company. G Adventures is seeking a Director of Global Marketing who is passionate, experienced, hard-working, and authentic. As the Director of Marketing you lead a high performing team of marketers responsible for how G Adventures and its portfolio of Travel Styles and destinations are positioned, perceived and brought to life in the global marketplace through targeted content, campaigns, go-to-market strategies and sales enablement across various channels including campaign management.
What You'll be Doing:
Actively contribute to the Global Marketing Team in a collaborative and meaningful way that helps support, inspire and motivate fellow colleagues, direct reports and managers alike
Lead a team of 2+ marketers and empower them to deliver strategic and executional excellence through positive support, guidance and inspiration
Lead the strategy and planning for multi-channel global and regional (larger-scale) campaigns and programs
Oversee and manage the positioning of the G Adventures portfolio of brands based on Travel Style, including National Geographic Journeys, Roamies and the Jane Goodall Collection. Guide and support team in developing content, campaigns and go-to-market strategies that support the global and regional goals and priorities of the business
Lead the marketing operations of the in-house brand & creative team, including brief writing, budget management, global marketing calendar, project execution and resource allocation
Take ownership of the global marketing calendar, working closely with the brand and creative, social, and regional teams
Provide ongoing commercial leadership, monitoring, reporting and recommendations to the marketing team in support of the global marketing strategy, and ensure execution of the same on a timely basis
Strategic marketing lead on global brochures
Communicate with external partners and other common collaborators
Lead go to market for all new tours and work closely with product colleagues in supporting developing, launching and reporting on new product
Uncover and identify innovative ways of bringing our trips to market, including new brand partnerships, Tourism Boards opportunities, and/or new products/trips to explore and pursue which resonate with our customer and which will continue to differentiate us from the competition
Lead and support any new partnership pitches, working alongside relevant team members including product, commercial, operations, legal, finance and technology teams
Understand and become an expert in our industry, our business, our culture and our customer, and use that knowledge to create effective, impactful, strategic, and share worthy work
Desired Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a related field
10+ years of demonstrated experience in marketing leadership and/or product marketing on either the client or agency side, working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment. Experience within a global company is an asset
5+ years experience managing a team, with a proven record of motivating, inspiring, and getting the best out of his/her people
Knowledge of and experience in the adventure travel market is desirable
Hands-on experience in B2B and B2C marketing
A strong critical thinker who has the ability to turn high level strategies into concrete
plans and clear creative briefs that are grounded in consumer insights
Oversee operational strategy of fiscal and quarterly planning (at departmental level), including oversight of budget planning and management, process and governance, vendor management and reporting. Including management and ongoing maintenance/process updates of Marketing Platform Systems
Possesses strong organization and leadership skills and demonstrates strong initiative, with an entrepreneurial spirit
Demonstrates the ability to critique and/or discuss the work of others in a constructive manner
Possesses excellent communication and influencing skills, combined with strong oral presentation skills
Is both collaborative and proficient at building positive working relationships with multidisciplinary stakeholders across the business
Able to work strategically and independently within a fast paced and ever-changing environment, while juggling multiple projects and tasks at the same time
Comfortable and competent analyzing sales trends, developing forecasts, and reporting on product sales and consumer insights
Must be able to travel nationally or internationally from time to time
Possesses strong computer/technology skills and is highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Keynote and Google Suite
Knowledge of PM software tool ClickUp is an asset
