Job summary

This position is responsible for managing the Section Engagement team’s activities related to planning, organizing and supporting groups of elected physician leaders in the assigned Primary Care Network (PCN). This includes leading a team that develops an in-depth understanding of member issues and priorities, managing issues that require escalation, and identifying opportunities for alignment with the work of the OMA for leaders in the PCN. This role acts as a main point of contact between the Section of General and Family Practice (SGFP) and the OMA and works with senior staff across departments to support the work of the Section and the Primary Care Network.

How you will make a difference Coaching, managing and guiding staff to navigate and resolve issues and ensure the sections of physician leaders in the Primary Care Network (PCN) receive a consistent and high level of support.

Managing the day-to-day work of the team that supports section physician leaders in the PCN with planning and organizing section work and builds strong relationships with the leaders.

Working with senior staff across OMA departments to support the work of Sections in the Network and flag issues/opportunities.

Managing the relationship with the SGFP and act as a conduit between the Section and the OMA.

Developing an in depth understanding of key member issues and opportunities for alignment with the work of the OMA.

Acting as subject matter expert regarding OMA policy positions, legal and financial issues, products, services, etc. to support and drive engagement through informing and supporting the SGFP.

Working with Sr. Director to support a high functioning Network structure where constituencies collaborate, discuss issues and share resources.

Providing Secretariat support for the Primary Care Network and following up on action items from Network meetings.

Liaising and coordinating activities with other OMA departments and physicians to ensure an effective and integrated flow of information to support physician leaders.

Working with Sr. Director to identify budget requirements, develop annual operating budgets, forecasts etc. for the Section Engagement team and for assigned constituencies, where required.

Requirements that are important to us Undergraduate Degree in Health Science, Political Science or equivalent.

Six to nine years of relevant healthcare administration, public speaking, and political acuity experience.

Experience working in Ontario’s health care sector and/or a member-based association sector is preferred.

Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.

In-depth knowledge of primary care and the issues primary care physicians face across the health care system.

Ability to build and manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Experience in the research, development and drafting of regulations, bylaws, policies, and guidelines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Demonstrated experience and skills with people leadership, including ability to lead a diverse team through change and manage expectations.

The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
