Job Summary: The University of the Fraser Valley invites applications for a permanent, full-time faculty member in its School of Education which includes undergraduate level pre-requisite courses; a 10 ½ month post-degree Bachelor of Education (BEd) for prospective elementary, middle, and secondary teachers; a Master of Education (MEd) in Educational Leadership and Mentorship; and an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.

The School is committed to anti-racism, social justice, decolonization, and Indigenization and these commitments are incorporated into every course and program. Our graduates are valued as educators because of their strong ability to integrate educational theory and knowledge into a reflective teaching practice that is critically minded, pedagogically sensitive, and socially just. The position is subject to budgetary approval.

This is a position for an educator who enjoys the challenge of working in an innovative School, and whose philosophy about education is consistent with the mission statement, values and commitments for the MEd, BEd, and ECE Certificate. This individual will also share the faculty’s commitments to social justice and anti-racism, and to decolonizing and Indigenizing practices. As such, the successful candidate would have knowledge of the five School values and commitments and will embed them into their curriculum design and delivery.

Given the values and commitments of the School of Education, we actively seek to include diverse perspectives and are intentional in our desire to support diverse identity expression.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in the BEd and MEd programs, work collaboratively with a variety of faculty and seconded faculty mentors, and be part of the BEd admissions and orientation processes. There are also additional expectations involving service to the university and the local community. A key responsibility of faculty in the School of Education is to ensure that teacher candidates who successfully complete the UFV BEd meet all program goals, demonstrate the School’s values, and are fully aware of their obligations to adhere to the British Columbia Teachers’ Council (BCTC) Standards.
