The Director of Facility contributes to the overall success of Coast Hotels by providing superior customer service and specialized services within Maintenance and Housekeeping. The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional who will lead our Maintenance and Housekeeping departments, ensuring the seamless operation and upkeep of our facilities. As the Director of Facility, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, preventative maintenance, capital projects safety and functionality throughout our property. Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of facility maintenance and housekeeping as well as supervising construction projects and should have experience planning and budgeting in the hospitality industry
Responsible for planning, communicating, facilitating, coordinating and overseeing any of the following projects: preventative maintenance, repairs, improvements, renovations, new construction and overall presentation of the hotel, rooms and parkade.
Responsible to conduct or arrange training of co-workers and subordinates regarding safety, security, department procedures, repairs, maintenance techniques, room cleaning procedures, operational procedures and service guidelines
Supervise and assist engineering staff in maintaining and repairing fire and life safety systems, room equipment, HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems – especially for kitchen appliances, refrigeration equipment, pool equipment, lighting, laundry equipment and other systems/equipment as directed
Prepare requisitions for replacement of bench stock items in both housekeeping and maintenance, locate and purchase materials needed for emergency repairs, provide administration of outside maintenance, contract activity of major systems (i.e., elevators, fire alarm, trash)
Assist General Manager in determining capital requests and managing contracts for capital projects
Promote preventative maintenance activities throughout the organization and guide both the Repairs and Maintenance and Housekeeping Departments.
Conduct property audits utilizing the brand standard audit reports for both Housekeeping and Repairs and Maintenance.
Assist in the budgeting and planning process at all hotels in the assigned area as needed
Comply with Brand standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
Follow company policies and procedures and ensure adherence is achieved by field engineering staff members
Always provide a professional image and ensure all onsite engineers adhere to the same through appearance and dress
Meet with vendors and suppliers to discuss scope of work and products / materials to use in repair activities
Support the capital purchasing program in accordance with guidelines
Possess the ability to read and use design drawings, diagrams, operation manuals and manufacturer’s specifications
Interprets specifications of blueprints, plans and manuals for successful supervision of activities
Ensure hotels operate safely, efficiently and in accordance with regulatory agencies
Generate written reports and recommendations
Other duties as required
Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications/Experience:
Secondary School Diploma
Two years of college or vocational training in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or plumbing; plus, six years’ work experience in facilities, maintenance plant operations or engineering services.
Proven track record of executing capital projects.
Minimum of two years trade qualification in electrical, plumbing, refrigeration or HVAC
One or more certifications in plumbing, HVAC or electrical
Ability to lead, supervise and motivate a minimum ambassador of 30.
Advanced communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
Professional attitude and appearance
Demonstrated knowledge of health & safety regulations and WHMIS
Physical mobility and stamina
