THE OPPORTUNITY:  DIRECTOR, FINANCE & TREASURY

The Director, Finance & Treasury reports directly to the Vice President, Finance. The Director, Finance & Treasury is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing SASCU’s financial operations and related functions. Working under the direction of executive leadership, the Director plays a key role in shaping and implementing financial strategy and objectives, ensuring that financial practices align with SASCU’s risk appetite and goals. The Director is also responsible for leading and coaching finance teams to enhance overall organizational performance.

Specific Accountabilities

Corporate Management:

• As a leadership team member, contributes to the development of annual business plans and goals;

• Provides expertise on a variety of strategic initiatives, projects, and committees to achieve SASCU goals.

Financial Management:

• Oversees the overall internal control environment of the finance function, including the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, finance and corporate record keeping, and compliance with regulatory and audit control requirements;

• Leads and monitors the operating and capital budgeting process, ensuring internal controls and departmental accountability are in place; ensures effective variance analysis and reporting, and oversees corrective action-planning;

• Ensures compliance with credit union and broader financial industry legal and regulatory frameworks; key liaison with internal and external auditors, overseeing audit preparation and schedules;

• Directs the preparation, review, and approval of individual entity and consolidated financial statements and reports used by the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and regulatory agencies;

• Provides insight into financial reports by identifying key variances, anomalies, and financial issues;

• Monitors industry trends and innovations, researching and recommending enhancements to financial policies, procedures, processes, and financial systems that will drive efficiency and enhance capabilities; directs the implementation of changes as required.

Treasury Leadership:

• Develops, implements, and monitors treasury strategies including Liquidity Framework, Investment and Lending Policy, and Derivative Policy; ensuring all reporting processes including those of a regulatory nature are completed and all trends identified and analyzed; ensures all external liquidity regulations and internal policy limits are met;

• Acts as an advisor to the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) and facilitates decision making through the provision of technical advice, support, and recommendations on a broad range of treasury activities; identifies potential market and interest rate risk for review and action;

• Leads pricing function by administering interest rates and foreign exchange for existing products and services, recommending pricing for new products and services, provides rate quotations for large term deposit bid and foreign fund amounts;

• Manages financial risk management and regulatory reporting for liquidity, capital and interest rate risk;

• In consultation with the Vice President, Finance, negotiates and executes financial contracts with other financial institutions;

• Ensures all treasury related procedures are documented for consistent application;

• Analyzes industry best practices to identify opportunities for improvement in treasury activities.

Managerial Leadership:

• Provides leadership to Accounting and Facilities departments, ensuring they have the tools, skills, and support needed to be successful in achieving individual and departmental goals;

• Continually develops of the Accounting and Facilities teams through regular coaching and training to drive engagement and enhance team performance;

• Leads direct reports through the annual performance management process using goal setting, interim reviews, coaching, and feedback and year-end reviews to improve results;

• Participates in talent management planning to ensure business continuity and to develop future leaders across the organization;

• Role models SASCU’s organizational values and leadership competencies.

Qualifications

• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation;

• Minimum of 6-7 years experience in progressively more complex financial and leadership roles in the financial services or credit union industry;

• Well developed and demonstrated knowledge of business and management principles, including financial planning and analysis;

• Experience overseeing budgeting, financial analysis, treasury, payroll, and accounting functions;

• Strong leadership and team management skills showing ability to motivate and guide team to achieve goals and improve performance;

• Strong understanding of Risk Management processes;

• Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide insights for decision-making;

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) accounting software;

• Strong organizational and project management skills;

• Strong problem-solving skills to address complex challenges and make appropriate decisions.

COMPENSATION:

A competitive compensation package will be provided including an attractive base salary range of $127,230 - $159,038 , variable incentive compensation and excellent benefits. Further details will be discussed in a personal interview.
