We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our Engineering Team. Responsible for all segments of our business which include Greenlid, Osprey Organics, a plastics division and a high-speed bottling division. The Director of Engineering will be responsible for the development of innovative products and processes. This position will oversee a highly skilled Engineering Team. If you have a diverse background and hands-on experience working in food and beverage, plastics and or high-speed packaging, accompanied by strong leadership skills and vision, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with the Ice River Sustainable Solutions Operations and Leadership Teams
Analyze the reliability and performance of all internal systems by implementing departmental KPI’s.
Accountable for recognizing possibilities for business development.
Review current processes and procedures and make recommendations of improvements based on findings.
Analyze engineering services and determine further ideas of monetization.
Assign, direct and evaluate employee’s work; and oversee the development of the team.
Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
Manage staff by coaching and mentoring as appropriate to improve performance.
Analyze technology, and resource needs to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
Provide technical oversight and coordination of project engineer work, through project coordination meetings and other means.
Monitor progress against project schedules and budgets; recommends allocation of resources as required to accomplish goals.
Direct, review, and approve design and project changes as appropriate.
Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the company.
Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings.
After project budget approval, assign projects to engineering staff; set priorities and adjust workload accordingly.
Making Decisions and Solving Problems - Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Ensure workers work in compliance with the OHSA and its regulations or other applicable legislation based on work location.
Ensure projects are executed in compliance with CSA Codes and Standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial Engineering.
P. Eng designation would be an added asset.
Experience in the high-speed manufacturing sector (Food & Beverage).
8+ years managing an Engineering Team (Process Engineers ideal).
Experience with automation, plastics and installation and commissioning manufacturing equipment projects.
Experience managing contractors.
Experience managing complex tech projects with the ability to build products and features from scratch.
Active knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel, Word, MS Projects.
