The role is part of the Global Partnerships Team that leads on developing strategic and funding partnerships with institutional funders and large global foundations. The team works to grow income, influence, expertise and recognition of Children Believe as a partner of choice through select long-term partnerships on a global, regional and national level.

Based out of Canada Office and reporting to the Director Global Partnerships, the Global Partnerships Manager (GPM) is the key role that will work to identify and assess revenue generation opportunities, manage and grow a portfolio of strategic global partners and grow income from grants in alignment with the objectives and growth goals of the new organizational strategy. As such, GPM will contribute to design, testing and scaling of new processes and approaches.

The role works collaboratively with Business Development and Program Development Managers across Children Believe’s country and regional offices on business development and grants pipeline forecasting, opportunity risk assessment, and serve as a Business Development lead to cross-functional teams in development of high quality and competitive multi-country, multi-year program funding proposals to government, multi lateral and global foundation donors.

The goal is to contribute to the growth of Children Believe’s program impact and influence through global partnerships and securing institutional grant funding for new and ongoing strategic initiatives.

This role includes, but not limited to:

1. Partnership Development and Management

Serve as account manager for select global partnerships, helping to grow and optimize existing relationships based on shared strategic interest and in pursuit of specific partnership opportunities

Take overall responsibility for all aspects of the partnership, including the quality of materials and correspondence received by partner, any day-to-day issues, the development, production and placement of materials, and tracking and reporting on joint activities

Contribute content on partnerships to Children Believe publications

2. Donor mapping, pre-positioning and proposal development:

Conduct prospective donor mapping and analysis, aligned with Children Believe’s strategic program priorities, and stay on top of changes in donor strategic approaches and funding opportunities in order to pre-position Children Believe as a relevant partner of choice in programming, service delivery, advocacy and research initiatives.

Establish relationships and maintain regular and pro-active communications with select current and prospective institutional donors.

Maintain strong and trusting collaborative networks with Business Development and Partnerships Managers in partner agencies in Canada and globally for continuous intelligence sharing and pre-position for opportunity to form consortia.

Lead the process for Children Believe’s Canada Office proposal development (multi-country or regional proposals, including outside Children Believe’s countries of operation), manage timelines and deliverables.

Provide technical input to CO led proposals, as and when required.

Manage the funding opportunity risk assessment and Go-NoGo processes in alignment with Children Believe’s grants and fiscal policies and procedures.

Conduct proposal development debriefs and document lessons learnt and best practices for continuous improvement and learning.

Ensure completeness of business development documentation related to grant proposals and donor mapping.

3. Grants pipeline management and reporting:

Conduct monthly grant pipeline analysis and draft management reports, including match contribution requirements.

Provide weekly updates to the Director, Global Partnerships related to any movements in the grants pipeline, new awards and contract negotiations.

4. Other

Comply with all Children Believe policies and procedures

Responsible for proper use of Children Believe goods and equipment

Other related duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate possesses:

Masters degree ideally in one of the following: international development, global business management, marketing and communications, or another relevant technical field (gender, education, child protection); graduate degree preferred.

Some formal training in fundraising will be an asset.

Minimum 5 years of progressive work experience in international development, including direct field and global experience in grants portfolio development, partnerships, business development and marketing

Knowledge of humanitarian and emergency relief an asset

Track record of securing grants from institutional donors, particularly GAC

Advanced knowledge of Results Based Management (RBM)

Experience in child rights programming in: education, child protection, early childhood development, health, food security, capacity building, livelihoods and economic empowerment, advocacy and emergency response is an asset

Minimum 5 years grant writing and proposal development experience with institutional donors, experience with development foundations an asset

Excellent research, report writing and proposal development skills, including knowledge of budget development

Relationship management

Familiarity with the donor development cycle

Donor stewardship

Knowledge of project management principles

Ability to build and sustain internal, external and cross-sectoral partnerships from programs and funding perspective

Strong communication skills, professional in communication with internal and external stakeholders

Negotiating and influencing

Fluency and excellent written skills in English; proficiency in French or Spanish an asset

Ability to travel for business – approximately 20% in Canada and internationally

Our Hybrid Workplace Program is a flexible work arrangement that permits employees to work remotely while also occasionally being required to come into the Organization’s office. If approved to work from home as part of our Hybrid workplace program; the incumbent must be available to work from the Organization’s office from time to time as determined by the supervisor or as otherwise directed by the Organization.

Compensation : Between $72,000 to $83,000 annually based on experience.
