Property Accountant

Job Description

Our reputable and engaging client in the property management sector is in search of a Property Accountant for a permanent position in their Halifax office. Working closely with the Controller and other accounting staff, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of a diverse real estate portfolio. You'll work closely with property managers, tenants, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities for the Job: Full monthly financial statements

Statement preparation and balancing

Journal entries

Amortization and accruals

General ledger maintenance

Bank reconciliations

Monthly reporting for multiple entities

Variance Analysis

Year-end audit preparation

Other intermediate level accounting duties or special projects as required

Skills & Attributes for Success: Post-secondary education in business or accounting

Minimum 3-5+ years experience in a full cycle accounting position, ideally in a property management environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Yardi software

Excellent interpersonal skills and team orientation

Above average attention to detail and organizational skills

Proven success in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

Team orientation and personable, positive approach

Experience performing property accounting is an asset
